While speaking to a pastor friend about the Bible I asked him what is the funniest thing he has read there. He was shocked and said, "There is nothing funny about God's Word." I was a little taken aback because I think there are some very funny passages in my Bible. This does not diminish the import of the Word or my belief that it is perfectly inspired and perfectly preserved. There is still an amazing record of very humorous stuff within its pages.
A good example is in Genesis. Can you imagine what Potipher said to his wife when he went home and told her who his new boss was? “You remember Joseph, the fellow you accused of molesting you and tried to get me to execute. Well guess who Pharaoh appointed to be the second ruler of Egypt.”
This exchange is not in the Bible but it probably (well possibly) took place. God has a sense of humor. He invented ours.
