The picture has nothing to do with the blog. I hope it does not offend too many cat people. hehehehe
This is a letter to the Press Democrat newspaper. I was hoping see a discussion started in the newspaper. I guess I am not very far thinking, as I do not get this liberal rag nor read it on the net. I thought I would put in on the blog. The paper creates the title.
Disagreement crimes
EDITOR: Why is Sen. Ted Kennedy trying to attach hate-crime legislation to the defense bill? Hate-crime legislation causes more problems than its solves.
A former homosexual tried to share his faith with a homosexual at a gas station, and he was arrested for a hate crime. The person faced a $10,000 fine and a year behind bars for witnessing. After $7,000 of legal fees, he was ordered to attend re-education classes. He committed no crime other than disagreeing with someone.
The First Amendment gives us freedom of speech, not freedom from offense. If a crime is committed because of greed, anger, lust, hatred or bigotry the problem is not the motive but the fact that the crime was committed. Punish the criminal.
The hidden agenda of hate-crime legislation is to silence Christians. Kennedy's hate crime bill was defeated and could not win standing alone, so now he is trying to attach it to the defense bill. It is not needed nor wanted by most Americans.

So far I've not received any hate email or phone calls or even vandalism. In the past the peaceful left has vandalized the church when I disagreed with them.

Aww. How sad, no hate mail? You must have been too soft.
Just kidding! Very good letter. Use the freedom of speech while we have it.
It's a good letter. Unfortunately, Christians are trying to be silenced everywhere. I had heard through the AFA that they were trying to make it a crime for a Pastor/preacher to preach against homosexuality from the pulpit. In our church covenant it is, and was actually done by an attorney, stated that homosexuals cannot be members or work in our church in any way. Our Pastor has taken a lot of flack from that through the years.
I get the distinct impression he really doesn't care about the flack. LOL

Oh yeah! I found you through Sarah Joy's blog.
I think you are a very hateful person.....to cats :) Especially since that one looks like ours.
Good letter. Our justice system often seems so unjust when it comes to things like this. What would happen if a former pornographer tried to convert a current pornographer? Society wouldn't frown on that and call it a hate crime. But of course people are more and more blinded to the fact that homosexuality is a sin. It is so sad.
