Dangerous Stupidity

The word today is stupidity - I have reservations about this word. I have done so many things that reflect this word that I feel I must add an adjective to the noun of stupidity. The added word is dangerous. Doing stupid things may the human condition. Doing dangerously stupid things is different.

Two dictionary definitions: Stupidity is:
1. a poor ability to understand or to profit from experience
2. the condition of being dull or slow in intelligence

Dangerous stupidity [DS] can be exhibited by people who do stupid things in two ways. Both of which put others at some sort of risk.
1. They do something that causes a bad thing to happen then do the same thing again.
2. They do something where the obvious result is poor but they do it anyway.

There are so many DS situations that they should be separated by topic:
UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE [UHC]:

• The following is from the UK - “A Department of Health analysis of 208,000 people admitted to hospital in March showed 48% were wheeled into the operating theatre within 18 weeks of a GP sending them for hospital diagnosis. But 30% waited more than 30 weeks and 12.4% more than a year.” Imagine what would happen if this happened in the USA
• The UK also features this - “Certain hospitals in the UK who have imposed a ban on smokers and the obese from receiving particular treatments have been defended for their action by the Health Secretary.”
• “Britain's cost-effectiveness medicines watchdog ruled on Friday that costly erythropoietin (EPO) drugs should not be used to treat anaemia caused by anti-cancer therapy, dealing a blow to drug firms and cancer campaigners.”
  

All this and yet some people want UHC. Canada and Australia have the same type of problems. Cuba has such wonderful health care (according to the USA left) that people are fighting to get into Cuba. OOPS! Cubans are dying to get out.

People who vote for UHC and try to implement it possess DS.

LIBERAL EDUCATION

• Teachers using “sight reading” rather than phonics end up with children who cannot read
• Teachers substitute politically correct social programs rather than US History. They have children who ask questions like, “Was the attack upon Pearl Harbor revenge for our dropping an atomic bomb on Japan?”
  

We still allow liberal teachers to have free reign with our children. Then we wonder why they have perverted ideas about literature and history and patriotism. These kind of teachers possess DS.

MATRIMONY

• A spouse who publicly puts down their mate in front of the children.
• A spouse who privately mentions negative things their mate cannot change.
• A husband who visibly flirts in front of his sons.
• A wife who refused a husbands affectionate hug (we are not talking intimate) in front of her daughters.

These people are dangerously stupid and are harming their marriage and their children.

The further we get away from the Biblical base our country was founded upon the more problems we will have and the more dangerous stupidity will be exposed.
