BIBLICAL CONTRADICTIONS

This picture has nothing to do with this blog but is a picture of a cool bunch of grandkids.

All Pastors and most Christians have heard someone say, “I don’t believe the Bible because of all the contradictions”. I usually respond to this with, “Oh, can you show me one?” Do that and you will hear more throat clearings than a professor from Berkeley saying they believe in giving everyone a chance to speak.

It is with joy I share my (and hopefully yours) philosophy concerning GOD’S WORD.
  • The Bible is God’s Word
  • God’s Word is perfect
  • Therefore, the Bible is perfect

God inspired word for word the original autographs. God preserved the Word of God through the Priesthood of the Believer. God directed those who collected and compiled the Textus Receptus. The Holy Spirit of God prevented the translators of the Authorized Version from making errors. The KJV therefore is perfect without error or translation mistake.

Other translations contain the Word of God but they have mistakes. The KJV is the Word of God. If I am wrong then I am guilty of believing God did what he said he would do.

If you use another translation then fine for you. We do not need to agree about this doctrine for us to be brethren in Christ. Go ahead and use your version but when I promote my Bible as perfect leave me alone.

Some of these contradictions are very simple but we will address them nonetheless.

  1. The contradiction: The Sun was not created until the fourth day therefore light could not have been created on the first day.
Genesis 1:3-5 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Genesis 1:14-19 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

This one may have validity if the sun was the only source of light. God created light on the first day but created light holders on the fourth day.

God is the source of light.

HTOITA hopefully
