HAPPY THANKSGIVING

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Everyone has pet peeves. I am going to list two of mine in the hopes that they may cause someone to think.

1. Happy Turkey Day - ignorant people that fall into two categories do this.
  • The friendly people who just do not know the importance of this Holiday; and
  • People who hate America, God, and you for thinking there must be blessings in this horrible place.
2. People who forget the troops. Hellywood, the liberal media, and politicians (liberal AND conservative) ignore the very people who are out there on the pointy end of the stick.
In WW II, Korea, and Vietnam, Hollywood supported, entertained, and joined the troops. I will always remember the impact Ann Margaret, Bob Hope, and John Wayne had on the guys who saw them. It is the troops that are at risk. They are away from family. They are having hardship. They are worthy of our support. The people who forget the troops fall into one category. Shallow thinking traitors.

I personally have so much to be thankful for it would be difficult to list.

1. A truly unique wife who still loves me second. The Lord is 1st for my bride. I have never ever had a second of doubt as to her being honest and faithful.

2. Five great kids and 4 faithful wonderful kids-in-law (that does not mean 5th one goofed, he's single but has a really cool potential)

3. Twelve funny, smart, and mostly Christian Grandkids. (There are those a little young but they’re on the way)

4. A Church where I can serve the Lord. I've never really signed on to that "don't let your people become friends" philosophy. The folks I have put up with my esoteric sense of humor, poor administration skills, and preaching. They have become my friends, all of them.

5. Kinfolk. I've been blessed with Aunt Lou and Uncle Lloyd, Arleen and Burt, Ken and Eileen. These are my friends, kinfolk, brethren, advisors, and examples.

6. The US of A.

7. A perfect Bible.

8. Pastor friends. Hilton Smith, Rod Burkholder, Logan Paine, Bob Benefield, Tim Johnson, Jim Bailey, Steve Kilthau are godly men who I can say are my friend

It is difficult not to keep going. Part of a Fanny Crosby poem echoes my attitude;

"so many blessings I do enjoy that other people don't,
to weep and sigh because I'm blind.
I cannot and I won't".

Written at 8 years old. I am not blind but the first part of this poem is special to me.

GOD BLESS YOU AND HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING
