Okay I am back on board with the Republican ticket. I am very happy with his veep pick and sincerely hope she is as presented. If so I will pray she is our first female president. I enjoy her outdoorsy attitude and think it funny the Dems are whining she is so pretty. Her political stands are (to quote our British friends) “spot on”.
All that said I am saddened by one thing her situation reveals. I am sure she believes now that sex outside of marriage is a sin. I say “believes now” because her first kid was born 8 months after nuptials and her daughter is PG (pregnant). The hypocrisy of the left is paramount to jump on these facts. They promote and celebrate sex before marriage. Notice I said, “of the left”. I did because the right knows people make mistakes and can go on with their lives.
Why am I bringing this up? Because while it is not anyone’s business if her daughter is PG. or not, it does show something wrong it the way she was brought up. Her daughter may very well be a moral, good kid but the family had a blind spot in this area. I think the blind spot I mentioned is the weakness of Christianity today.
Do we really believe we can watch Hollywood lack of morals and believe it will not cause our actions to change? What we watch and what we teach in school WILL change our actions. For those who believe otherwise I would ask them a question; Why do companies spend millions of dollars on advertising if it does not cause us to change our actions?
Just for clarification; sex outside of marriage is a sin. People sin and can be forgiven by God and go on with wonderful lives. The best idea is for both guy and gal to say, “I do” with no sexual experience but possessing knowledge only. Sometimes learning can be fun. The fact that people who sleep together before marriage have a better chance of divorce has been proven by statistics. The naive idea that “you have to find out if you are compatible” is borderline idiotic. Two people intent on pleasing each other will figure out how to be compatible. The most experienced sexual partner usually has the most problems.
I am pleased that Sarah Palin is on the R. ticket and have only one problem with how it is settled. I think the ticket is upside-down.

Even more Hillary supporters will go for McCain now. Obama is no longer a near certainty. Heaven forbid something happens to McCain, but I believe Palin would rise to the occasion. She has the right attitude. Everyone knows Obama is NOT ready for POTUS, Palin is only for the VP. Look at Dan Quayle.

Hey preacher, have to disagree about your assumption there was something wrong with the way the daughter was brought up. Right from birth children have their own personalities and they'll carry through for a lifetime. All parents can do is the best possible job and pray that it's enough.
But even with that, you've put up a great post.
OBTW, I stole the picture at the top of your post and pasted it on my own blog. With all due credit of course, I don't mess with a man of the cloth.

All parents can do is the best possible job and pray that it's enough.” This is very accurate. There is a part of the “all parents can do” that I question.
Making sure the girl knows at 12 that sex before marriage is a sin.
Making sure the teen knows that dating alone is not going to happen.
Making sure the gals male friends know that some things are not appropriate
Making sure that the daughter is taught the Holy Spirit is with her at all times.
The other teens would have thought Miss Palin’s parents were too strict but it does work. It did for all five of my kids and we are just normal parents.

RP, after reading your elaboration on the original post I have to agree with you. Especially on not allowing the teen to date alone. With the secular, athiestic culture we have it might seem drastic but drastic measures are whats called for.
And thanks for the kind words, thank you also for your own service to our country. Marines are not only the first in to a theater of war, they're also the first ones to get the dirty end of the stick by the defeatists in our own country. Facing that takes a fair amount of backbone, IMHO.

Correct on all counts. It is harder every dy to protect our children and prepare them to face the world we now live in. BUT...my children were never allowed to date alone. Ever. It's basic math. Boy + girl + alone = trouble!
