This picture has nothing to do with this blog but illustrates the acumen of the criminal element. On second thought, I would guess this “polo” did not have a “Personal Code of Conduct.”
HOW TO BUG YOUR PARENTS and get away with it!
First of all one of the greatest things you can do is to bug your parents. Seeing their face when they realize there is nothing they can do about what you have done is priceless. You know how far you can take your parents too. You can get your dad to the limit without crossing the line. Dad may cross the line but you can stop before you do. You can also get your mom right up to the frustration level where your conscience begins to bother you and then stop.
You know also that you really love your parents. Your home happiness is really dependent upon your relationship with your parents. If you are concerned about your future then you should be concerned about your relationship with the people who are feeding you. You should have a PERSONAL CODE OF CONDUCT.
1. Establish a spiritual life of your own.
This is a code for those who are Christians. You cannot establish your spiritual life without knowing the Son of God as your personal Saviour. You should attend a Bible-believing church on a regular basis. Also you should seek fellowship with other Christians.
2. Obey your parents
Ouch! This one is important. Believe it or not you will NEVER regret being obedient to your parents. You are a part of the family and should cooperate in the home. Always let your peeps know where you are without them harassing you for the information. Try to put yourself in their place. They make mistakes but none of the mistakes are intentional to hurt you.
3. Keep your mind and body pure
Almost every guy that has sex with a girl tells a friend what happened. Really lots of them lie and say they did anyway. Girls do not think about sex the same way and guys do. If a girl had sex with 20 guys in one month she would not brag about it but almost any guy would. Saving your sexual activity for you wife or husband is the ultimate gift you will be able to give. Most girls have heard this one, "but if you loved me…" is a line that should be responded with, "if you loved me you would not ask."
4. Avoid all drugs, alcoholic, and tobacco
You are not a little kid. You have seen other kids that are stoned and or drunk. They really act like idiots. You will never regret making a pledge to your future to stay away from things that hurt you.
5. Consider the use of the family car a privilege
Driving is a real kick. Driving is lots of fun and very useful. You cannot get around without a car in America. It is not your right it is a privilege. If you treat your parent's car with respect you will be able to use it more often. Can you imagine how it would be killing a child? Be careful.
6. Dress attractively and neatly
It is never fun to look like an oddball. It is wrong to be such a slave to fashion that you cause shame. Some fads are cool and not wrong. There is nothing wrong with being stylish. Getting nipple rings, nose rings, 54 earrings, tongue studs are dangerous and dumb. Let other kids get all the holes and tattoos. You will never regret waiting. Watch how others act. Do you really want to be just like them? Girls should dress like girls and guys like guys.
7. Care for my own room and clothes
If you need a "Caution!" sign on you room door you should consider a change. You will find things, save money, and a clean room will make things easier. Also it will keep your parents out of your room. If your room is clean your parents will not want to go on exploring expeditions.
8. Do my best in school
You can play, kick around and goof off for some of the time but you will be happier if you do your best in school. Look at the adults in your community. Who is doing what job and how much money do they have. Education is important
9. Be wise in use of money
Being broke is not as much fun as having money. Start good habits now. The top 10% should go to your church. The next 10% should go to savings. The next 10% should go to a project like car or gifts. The rest can be spent on things needed.
10. Respect the rights of others.
Jesus said you should do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. Respecting the time and personality of others will bring respect back to you. Respect the property of others. Treat others fairly and you will develop the reputation of an honest person
