THE DANGER OF HAVING A DOCTOR

This picture has nothing to do with this post.
This is Susan on Jim's back deck. We just had our 40th anniversary. She has been gone for a week and now is home. I am not a single guy and enjoy being married. Proverbs 18:22 is very accurate but I guess it depends on the wife.
---------------------------

The following has been around for several years. A friend just sent it to me and I thought a re-run would be appropriate. Friends (especially Brothers in Christ type of friends) make life better living.

Doctors vs. Gun Owners

Doctors

(A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000

(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000

(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now think about this:

Guns

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000 (Yes, that is 80 million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500

(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .000188 - Statistics courtesy of the FBI

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Remember, 'Guns don't kill people, doctors do.'

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT almost everyone has at least one doctor. This means you are over 900 times more likely to be killed by a doctor than a gun owner

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand !!!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Out of concern for the public at large,

I withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
From me: I had a doctor who asked, during a routine examination, "Do you have any guns in the house? I asked him if he had any knives in his house. He was shocked and asked my why that was any of my business. I shared with him the above statistics and he was always quiet with me after that. Entertainment is where you find it.

I avoid goinng to the doctor.

I am a strong proponent of responsible hunting and responsible gun ownership. I consider the opportunity to shoot blue rocks, hunt everything from rabbits to buffalo, and provide yummy nourishment for myself, family, friends, and strangers a blessing.

I also consider the opportunity to read the Bible, learning the truth of love from Christ a blessing...something I'm sure being a Baptist Pastor you can identify with. I don't think Christ would think a re-run of "Doctors vs. Gun Owners" is "appropriate." I don't think it serves Him, or doctors, or gun owners, or Christians. I think Christ would think the "appropriate" thing to do in response to the "Doctors vs. Gun Owners" piece is love...and I would like to know what you honestly feel is love in this situation.

Michel, Thank you for the interesting comment on my blog. There are several things that you should know.

1. The first of which is this particular blog is in response to the untruthful assault upon guns and gun owners. You may not have noticed it but nationally from the President down to local law officers gun owners are looked upon with suspicion. Remember the “clinging to their God and guns” comment from BHO? That should have been responded to by the national media but it was not. Hollywood is trying to make the NRA a terrorist organization.
Using humor can often garner attention when straight facts do not. Jesus would not be unhappy with anything written in the blog.

2. This blog was satire. I do not think doctors and lawyers are dangerous. Well let me abridge that: I do not think all doctors or lawyers are dangerous. Are you saying Jesus never used satire, sarcasm or ridicule to make a point? Check out John 8:7; Matthew 23:13-15, 25, 29. It is obvious that I am not Jesus but nothing in my blog was unloving. Telling the truth is not sinful. Also the exaggeration was so obvious that there is a glaring disconnect with someone who takes offense and reality.

3. Jesus said for us to love our enemies, Matthew 5:44. He did not say they were not enemies. I can love my enemy and still try to defeat them politically. A Christian soldier can love the enemy and still take his life if necessary. It is an enigma. I choose to defend my 2nd amendment rights by using something harmless and informative such as this blog. Also it encourages others and causes mirth. Proverbs 15:13; 17:22; 15:15

You wrote “I would like to know what you honestly feel is love in this situation.” I think it is love trying to encourage others, love using humor to correct the ignorant and uninformed, and love to share the truth.

Sorry this reply is so long but I really appreciate an honest query. Blue rocks?

Thanks for responding to my post.

A blogpost on the issues surrounding the 2nd Amendment that might interest you... http://cjdates.blogspot.com/2010/08/gun-control-rights-vs-safety.html.

I 100% agree with the three things you mentioned are love in your last paragraph. However, while a Christian soldier CAN PHYSICALLY take the life of his enemy, it is never necessary.

Blue rocks = clay pigeons, skeet.

HTOITA,

I agree with you that love can come in humorous and even sarcastic forms, although I am not sure this post falls into that category. To me it just looks like misinformation, and it doesn't seem funny at all.

I have to completely disagree with you about the enigma of love. Love cannot be held outside of an action towards a person or people; your love is defined by HOW YOU RELATE TO THEM. A soldier cannot simultaneously love his enemies and kill them, because his killing is his relation to them, and clearly scripture tells us that killing is not a loving thing to do.

I think of Christ's words in John 15:13 that "no one has greater love than this, to lay down his life for his friends." Now, I realize Christ says his FRIENDS, and not his enemies, but Paul clears this up for us in Romans 5:6 stating that "Christ died for the unrighteous." He goes on to say, "Rarely will anyone die for a righteous person - though perhaps for a good person someone might actually dare to die. But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us." Notice that God proves his love by the action he creates in Christ. Now, if we are to follow after Christ's example, I would submit that dying for ones enemy would be a much more profound and Christ-like love than would be killing them. After all, Christ didn't kill any of his enemies, he died for them.

Thanks for your thoughts, keep writing.
