GOD IS A CONSERVATIVE - Part 2
In many churches a pastor making the statement “God is a conservative” would evoke jocularity, disbelief, dismay and disappearances. It is bold, dramatic, controversial, and true. It does not, however follow the dictionary definitions of the word conservative or liberal. As the language is fluid and changing we should take our definitions from the actions of the disciples of liberal and conservative belief.
NOTE: AS WE ARE NOT TRYING TO SELL OR PROMOTE PRESIDENT BUSH, THE WAR IN IRAQ, BORDER SECURITY, OR SOCIALIZED MEDICINE WE WILL AVOID THOSE TOPICS.
Let us take as a presupposition GOD WROTE THE BIBLE. When we get this settled life becomes more manageable.
We shall begin at the beginning. The foundation of our Republic is unquestionably Biblical and therefore Christian. The Bible’s God is mentioned in the Declaration of Independence several times. The freedoms we enjoy in the Bill or Rights and the Constitution are founded in the Bible. So, we have a foundation, and a rock solid foundation at that. There is even a Bible verse on the Liberty Bell.
The political spectrum runs from left to right. Admittedly, I am on the right side with all the biases that that affords. Those who are trying to erode the Christian influence from the afore mentioned foundation are not from the right but the left.
- The left is trying to remove “In God We Trust” from our money
- The left is trying to remove all references to the Bible from school literature classes.
- The left is desperately trying to remove gender references like mom and dad from children’s books
- The left silences any professor who believes in “Intelligent Design”.
- The list goes on and on.
If God wrote the Bible and the left hates and misuses the Bible we can conclude that God is not on the left side of the spectrum. It would behoove us to make sure we are on God’s side rather than try to get Him on our side. Next time we will discuss substance and truth of what God knows.
That are a fair amount of absolute wing-nut cases on the right also. I would say that the way-out ones (like that satanic Baptist church that pickets funerals) are not really Christian or they would understand the Bible. -
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
